Regime: The Power of Yoga
Thinking
of its origin 5000 years ago in India, yoga is a discipline with physical,
mental and spiritual components. The word yoga comes from Sanskrit yuj, which
means to unite, join or unite. Today, there are more than 36 million people in
the United States. Common reasons that people cite the practice, including
flexibility, general fitness and health, stress reduction, and spiritual
development. Although there are many styles and lines of yoga - an old, new -
hatha yoga (physical postures with attention to breathing) is the most popular
form in America.
Philosophy
of yoga and nutrition
Writers
have explored the countless yoga, but a text stands out as a classical guide:
The Yoga Sutras is a collection of 196 statements he said that were recorded by
the wise Patanjali about 2000 years ago. It describes the basic principles of
yoga, including the rules of self-conduct and ethics.
When
most people hear "yoga", they think of physical practice. But in
fact, the Yoga Sutras contains only one verse on physical poses. Most teaching
is dedicated to understanding the mind and living a harmonious life.
Ahimsa
or not harmful, is discussed in the yoga sutras and all the literature on the
philosophy of the yoga concept. Realistically, it is impossible to go through
life and never harm another creature, either directly or indirectly. However,
yoga texts teach that human beings have the ability and responsibility to
minimize the sufferings of other beings.
Food
choices are a way to keep this responsibility. Often hailed as the most yogic
diet, vegetarianism avoid killing or hurting animals for food. However, some
lines are not clearly established. How food comes from - based on the ground or
not - issues. When considering all the ramifications of food production,
perhaps no food is completely free of consequences.
It
is also important to remember that Ahimsa means taking care of yourself - not
damaging her body, mind or spirit. Yoga described in The Yoga Sutras is not
dualist. No dictates worshiping Krishna, Jesus or Mohammed. Patanjali does not
say that a yogi must meditate on an object or speak the correct correct
language. Similarly, there is no proper way to eat. Some principles describe
what is a healthy and compassionate diet and, within these guidelines, each
individual has the opportunity to develop a unique diet for himself.
How
Yoga Helps
A
growing body of evidence suggests that many yogis have sensed: Yoga has the
benefits of physical and mental health. Attention on carpet culture can lead to
mindfulness in other areas of life, including diet. Bearing in mind diet is a
key element in weight control and can get people to more positive relationships
with food. Studies have shown that yoga can reduce stress and anxiety, improve mood
and general well-being, help maintain weight and potentially reduce the risks
and symptoms of chronic diseases such as diabetes mellitus. Type 2, heart
disease and hypertension. Researchers are also investigating whether the
practice can improve outcomes in people with cancer, arthritis and depression.
In
addition, yoga practitioners are much more likely than non-practitioners to
participate in other forms of exercise such as weightlifting, running and
cycling. Eighty-six percent of physicians reported a strong sense of mental
clarity, 73 percent reported feeling physically strong rapport and 79 percent
of their community - all significantly higher than non-practicing fees.

As
with any exercise program, consult a physician before starting a physical yoga
practice. As there are many yoga styles to choose from, find one that suits
your lifestyle, body and personal preferences. Look for yoga teachers to
encourage you to explore your own work, ask questions and choose modifications
if a pose or technique does not work for you. And remember, yoga is a way of
life - not just a class.
